Always remember to check your dog/cat’s collar is not too tight. As they grow their collar will need to be adjusted to suit their needs.

You should always flea treat your animal before boarding them. Even if they don’t have fleas they may pick them up being around other animals. Although we treat the kennels for fleas on a regular basis we are unable to prevent pet-pet transfer. So prevention is always better than cure.

Make sure you have a lead or cat containers before leaving home so that when you arrive at the kennels you are properly prepared. There is nothing worse than running late for the ferry and you can’t find your dog’s lead.

If you wish to you may bring your pet’s toys and bedding. But be aware not to include toys and bedding that contain polystyrene foam beads. It only takes a little rough play to rip the housing, spreading them everywhere. These can be lethal to dogs and cats, if they inhale them they can become wedged in their nostrils, blocking air and killing them. And those tiny little beads are hard to pick up, take forever to break down, and will be laying in wait to harm another animal. All of this can be avoided by checking your pet’s toys and bedding.

If you wish to bring your own pet’s food for us to feed them during their stay, please label your food. And writing down a feeding guide makes it easier for us to make sure that your pet is getting exactly what they do at home. The same applies for medication that your pet may require. If you have difficulty giving them their medication it is sometimes easier to disguise it in a treat or piece of luncheon meat (fritz, poloney, baloney) If this is the case please supply some luncheon meat for us, so that we don’t have to struggle with it. I don’t always have a supply in my fridge.
