The cattery has six separate ‘rooms’ for guests, four of these have private balconys where the cat may watch the local bird life, without interacting too closely. They also have direct access to the outside playground area from their balcony, although this is restricted to one cat at a time, so as not to allow conflict between guests. The cats have dry food available to them at all times and they are given tinned food for their evening meal. We are happy to feed the cats their own food – if supplied – and any dietary plans can be observed if it is in writing. We have a fridge/freezer for storage of any opened tins, fresh or frozen food and we have storage containers for dry and unopened tinned food. We use a natural litter, which is biodegradable.
The kennels have fourteen separate kennels. All have an inside area, which contains their bed, and where the dogs are fed. This area is approximately 1.5m x 2.0m. The dogs have 24hr access to their own outside play area where the gravity-fed rainwater is available for them. From here they can see the other dogs but are kept separate by mesh walls and roof. This area is approximately 5m x 2m. Half of the outside area has concrete flooring the other half is graveled. The dogs are fed dry food each morning and a mixture of tinned and dry food each evening. If the dogs are on special diets or need medication, or you just prefer to keep your pet on his/her regular food, – if supplied – we are happy to follow any directions but it must be in writing. We do have a fridge/freezer for food storage however space is limited. We do have music playing for the dogs to help settle them.
General
We cater to local residents that wish to leave their pets at home while they either travel off island, or have a camping weekend locally. This way you can enjoy your time away without worrying what your pet is up to, and that they are safe. We have regular customers who drop their dogs in for part of the day – we call it doggy-daycare.
We also cater for visitors to the Island that wish to have their pets nearby, while they camp or bush-walk in the national park whist holidaying on our beautiful island. As dogs are not allowed in any of the national parks on Kangaroo Island, we can keep your pet here safe and sound, but you still have the option to come and visit and/or take them out for day trips with you when you are not visiting the National Parks.
Bookings are essential, as we only have limited spaces available. It is also important to book early for school holidays and the Christmas/New Year period as we fill up quickly.
